Jennifer Coogan has been Chief Content Officer of Newsela since 2013. Her background is in newsrooms and digital publications. She worked under the tightest deadlines in the news business as a reporter for Bloomberg and Reuters specializing in finance and economic coverage. As a freelancer, she reported on airline and hotel industry news for Travel + Leisure magazine. She later worked as a content marketing consultant for a number of financial industry companies including Fidelity, Intuit, American Express and Citibank. As a volunteer for the India Literacy Project, she helped establish a lending-library for area elementary schools in Hyderabad.

Jennifer has a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from Wellesley College. She lives in the heartof Silicon Valley with family.
