Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of External Partnerships and Engagement, the Community Director of the Fordham Foundry will be responsible for creating a vibrant entrepreneurship, innovation and social innovation hub serving the Fordham University community.

Responsibilities will include developing and implementing programs, engaging with members of the community, implementing entrepreneurship, innovation, and social innovation-related initiatives, and fostering outreach to external partners to make Fordham Foundry a prominent hub.

This role is designed for individuals with experience in diverse settings, organizations, and industries who thrive on helping others connect with resources and maximize their innovative thinking and potential.

Essential Functions

  • Sets strategic direction and vision for the Foundry with stakeholders as a prominent and vibrant hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and social innovation.
  • Designs and implements innovative programs across Fordham with an emphasis on social innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborates with academic units to identify curricular and co-curricular synergies and integration opportunities to build out innovation and entrepreneurship skills and mindsets.
  • Leverages social media platforms to enhance the Foundry’s reach, awareness, and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing Foundry budget to ensure financial health and resource allocation for the Foundry’s initiatives.
  • Hires, supervises, and develops staff and volunteers who will successfully support the Foundry.
  • Establishes and enhances relationships with alumni and other volunteers to participate as judges, mentors, and coaches for various Foundry events (both curricular and co-curricular).
  • Mentors and advises students (Undergraduate/Graduate) and alumni by conducting one-on-one meetings to evaluate their projects and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Assists as a facilitator during weekly roundtable discussions with students and other stakeholders to foster collaborative learning and innovation.
  • Works with the Advisory Board, academic units, and community leaders to develop, implement, and regularly assess progress for a strategic vision for the Foundry.
  • Coordinates AshokaU submission and certification.
  • Collaborates with DAUR (Development and Alumni University Relations) on fundraising initiatives and advisory board management,

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in higher education, non-profit, or related environments

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with ambiguity
  • Must be a skilled problem solver and priority “juggler” with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strategic leadership and management experience
  • Experience working with, engaging, and advancing diverse groups of people
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively/diplomatically with others
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (achieved or in progress)
  • Experience with or exposure to startups is highly preferable.
  • Experience with grant writing and donor engagement
  • Expertise in developing innovative programming and facilitating growth in student leadership
  • Deep understanding of social media and comfort with evaluating, implementing, and integrating various tech platforms

Minimum Starting Salary: $90,000

Maximum Starting Salary: $105,000

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
