We’re looking for a Head of Teacher Operations to lead and optimize our teacher (teacher) workforce. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring we have a high-quality, well-supplied, and efficiently managed teacher pool to meet growing demand. You’ll build scalable operations, improve teacher scheduling and support, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure top-tier instructional quality at scale.

What You’ll Do

Teacher Recruitment, Training & Retention

• Oversee the entire teacher lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluation, professional development, and retention.
• Optimize teacher utilization and workforce planning, ensuring teacher productivity while maintaining a high-quality teaching experience.
• Scale the teacher pool while ensuring quality—with rapid growth in mind, ensure a balance of supply and demand while ensuring instructional quality at scale.

Leadership

• Ensure alignment between teacher operations, customer experience, and instructional design to improve student success.
• Support crisis management & problem-solving – address scheduling gaps, teacher performance issues, and service quality challenges.
• Oversee and grow the teacher ops team - manage and expand the current teacher team by recruiting, training, and developing a strong team to support teachers effectively.

Process Optimization

• Improve session quality and student outcomes.
• Optimize teacher communications & workflows – currently managed via different channels, look for opportunities for streamlining communications and scheduling.
• Enhance teacher experience – make sure individual experiences with Air Reading are seamless.
• Collaborate with Product & Tech teams – influence platform improvements to enhance scheduling, communications, and teacher experience.
• Set and track key performance metrics – ensure teacher engagement, availability, instructional quality, and retention.
• Ensure quality at scale – optimize processes to maintain high instructional standards while expanding operations.

What We’re Looking For

• Teaching operations expertise – Must have hands-on experience running teacher operations at capacity.
• Strong operational leader – You know how to design structured, scalable processes and automate workflows.
• Metrics & data-driven – You measure performance, improve efficiency, and optimize supply and quality.
• Team leadership experience – You’ve managed and grown high-performing operational teams.
• Tech & platform collaboration – You’ve worked with product teams to enhance operational systems and tools.
• Startup-savvy & adaptable – You’re comfortable in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.
• Excellent problem-solver & communicator – You can navigate challenges, engage with teachers effectively, and align cross-functional teams.
