WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position is responsible for providing high-level project management services for the portfolio of projects within the Innovation Strategy team in support of ASCD+ISTE’’s mission. Working at the direction of the Senior Director, Innovative Learning, this role drives the implementation and integration of project initiatives within the division in collaboration with other divisions as applicable, including the support of specific grants. The Project Manager is responsible for supporting teams in delivering project(s) that empower educators to reimagine and redesign learning through impactful pedagogy and meaningful technology use, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This position requires an understanding of the education landscape, a passion for leveraging technology to drive positive change, and relationship-building skills to support partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex projects and working closely with partners. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of emerging technologies, their potential applications in education, and the importance of equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in internal and external project meetings. Plan, facilitate and manage communication between the ISTE+ASCD staff, key project personnel, external liaisons, project participants, vendors and suppliers.
  • Support the planning and implementation of professional learning experiences that support educators in effectively integrating emerging technologies, including AI, into their teaching practices, focusing on impactful pedagogy, meaningful technology use, students as designers and creators, and addressing equity issues related to access as well as application.
  • Provide support for communities of practice that foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth among educators, enabling them to become leaders and trainers in their specific communities and cultural contexts.
  • Work across teams and departments to support the development of an online hub that includes evidence-based resources, and tools including case studies, frameworks, impact assessments, professional learning content, etc.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate any related program consultants, contractors, or subject matter experts as needed. Includes planning, scheduling, and leading meetings and work sessions for contract project work to ensure timely delivery and quality of work.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate transparently with colleagues across departments to ensure projects progress in a timely manner; be able to sequence tasks and move multiple tasks forward in parallel.
  • Support project financial reporting and analysis of engagement metrics aligned to internal operational processes.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Continue professional development to keep informed of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management including key processes.
  • Knowledge and passion for education technology and innovation, especially as relates to impact, and business and product/program success

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years experience in education, technology, or business
  • Direct experience leading, managing, and meeting deadlines for large and complex projects.
  • Experience working with partners to operationalize projects.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in education with experience addressing issues related to technology.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Comprehensive project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, and workflow analysis.
  • Comfort using web-based office applications for online collaboration and document/content management such as Asana, Salesforce, and Google Drive.
  • Plan large events for various groups.
  • Create clear plans to achieve goals and monitor costs, progress, and results.
  • Communicate and present effectively to diverse audiences including developing and presenting documents such as project plans, oversight structures, status reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Ability to identify and address stakeholder and partner needs and willingness to build and maintain productive relationships with a variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to adapt and self-motivate across several simultaneous projects as well as discuss, plan, develop, and operationalize new projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Normal demands associated with a deadline-driven office environment.
  • Daily contact with external customers, vendors, colleagues, associates, supervisors, and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

This position is grant funded through June 2027 with the position continuing beyond June 2027 as funding allows.

This position is considered HYBRID unless you live in the DC Metro Area (MD, DC or Northern VA) Employees living in the DC Metro area are REQUIRED to come into the Arlington, VA office up to two days per week. All attempts will be made to hire an individual in the DC Metro area, but on those occasions where we cannot this position is eligible to be remote.
