SMARTESTK12: "Undisclosed venture round" to Santa Monica, CA-based SmartestK12 from UCLA Venture Capital Fund, reports Built In LA. Founded in 2013, the startup helps teachers create, deliver and track online assignments. The tool will be pilot tested in LA Unified School District and the team hopes to have a “full-blown product for beginning of next school year,” said co-founder and COO Kevin McFarland. SmartestK12 comes out of UCLA's 2013 Startup summer accelerator and a three-week accelerator with 4.0 Schools.
