$7.97 BILLION: That's the approximate size of the U.S. PreK-12 education technology market, according to a new report released by the Education Division of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). This number, based on 2012 sales data shared by 122 companies, is a slight bump from last year's valuation of $7.76 billion. Testing and assessment products grew by a whopping 35%--perhaps not too surprising given the looming Common Core standards and tests. Other surprising tidbits: Revenue from online courses jumped 200%, while platform and administration tools dipped 32%. The full report is a bit pricey at $1500, but companies that participate in the survey can get next year's full report for free.
