BAKER, TAYLOR, SAILOR: LightSail Education, whose tablet-based literacy platform has nabbed a series of awards and grants since its founding in 2012, is adding another notch to its belt. On Feb. 5, the New York City startup is partnering with Baker & Taylor, the world's largest distributor of books and entertainment products (420,000 titles and counting). According to a company rep, LightSail has already identified 25,000 K-12 titles that it will "enhance" with embedded assessments and data tracking features. The exclusive partnership will also give LightSail access to Baker & Taylor's sales channels, which it has building since its founding in 1828 and includes thousands of schools, according to the press release.
