SECOND UP: Zynga.org and NewSchool Venture Fund's accelerator for edtech gaming startups, co.lab, has announced its second class for its four-month program. (Recap of the first class here.) Over sixty applied, and here are the seven that made it:
- BrainQuake: Studio for adaptive math game apps; its first title, Wuzzit Trouble, was developed by Stanford math professor Keith Devlin--aka "The Math Guy" on NPR
- Kid Bunch: Developer of digital toys and apps that help kids create interactive stories
- Kiko Labs: Builder of neuroscience games that help kids build and strengthen cognitive skills
- Pixowl: Developer of The Sandbox, an open-world builder game reminiscent of Minecraft, and other titles
- Timbuktu: Award-winning creator of high-quality digital magazines and mobile games that teach kids to be healthy
- TinyTap: Developer of platform that allows users to design and share their own educational games
- CourseMaster: Simplifying how students interact with course materials, classmates and faculty
Each startup will receive $25K-$50K in funding from Zynga.org and have access to its office space. In addition, they will receive guidance from mentors and developers at Zynga and NewSchools Venture Fund.
