A BLACK BELT IN COMMUNICATION: Classroom management tool ClassDojo is at it again--this time, they’re providing teachers with ClassDojo Messaging. Announced for release this coming Monday, this new platform/app feature will allow teachers to send private messages to parents individuals, or “broadcast” to a group.
If a parent responds to a "broadcast" messages, it immediately becomes a private 1-on-1 conversation with the teacher. Each broadcast and direct message is accompanied by a "Read Receipt," meaning the teacher can see whether or not the parent has seen the note.
Concerned about whether ClassDojo Messaging is really private? ClassDojo reps say that the messenger has been designed so that parents and teachers don't share personal contact info (i.e. cell phone numbers, email addresses). Rather, teachers provide parents with a secure "parent code" on the app.
With regards to the reasoning behind the new feature, CEO and co-founder Sam Chaudhary reports that while ClassDojo has always been providing helpful reports for parents, “teachers kept asking for better ways to involve parents and parents wanted easier ways to stay engaged, too.”
The feature will be released this Monday on iOS and Android devices.
