Why do some literacy tools flourish in the classroom, while others don’t get traction? EdSurge has compiled over four hundred teacher reviews on English Language Arts products to understand what educators want from their tools. Now, we’ve taken five of the most popular products--Actively Learn, Newsela, NoRedInk, Ponder, and Reading Kingdom--and analyzed this feedback for product and industry trends.
Each individual Product Insight Report highlights what, in their own words, teachers rate as important. The reports also present survey results on key customer benchmarks such as willingness to pay, product awareness and the desired frequency of use. Among educators at recent EdSurge Summits, for example, 71% said they’d be willing to pay for Actively Learn, and 65% said they would use Reading Kingdom in their classroom every day.
Taken together, the reports show what educators continue to highlight as important within the ELA subsector. What, for example, is more commonly cited by teachers: a desire for products to align to standards or for products to engage students? Check out the reports at $129 each--or $450 for all five.
Looking ahead, the EdSurge team aims to create Insight Reports for many more subsets of edtech products. And we will continue to build our Edtech Index. (Did you know there are more than 900 products listed in our index?) So let us know what you want to know about the emerging world of edtech products.
