MORE S'COOL TOOLS IN SOCAL: We're still in a happy haze from our Los Angeles Tech for Schools Summit, and to wrap up, here are a few more of the tools that graced the City of Angels on September 13th!
Free: Looking to gamify your classroom? Brain Rush has lots of options for a wide variety of classes, on topics from Greek Gods and Goddesses to World War II to the Water Cycle. Its games are reactive and adaptive to help students stay challenged and engaged, and prompt students to review concepts after play.
Free: If you want to help your students create multimedia video presentations on iPads, LoiLoNote can help. Users can mix drawings, maps and web content onto their slides, and shift around different slides with the LoiLoNote app. This could be useful for history/geography projects where students track how different events lead up to each other, like with units on Ancient Egypt or Guy Fawkes. Download it now--this Japan-based product just launched in the U.S., and will only be free until October 13!
Freemium: If memorizing multiplication tables at desks is tough for your antsy third graders, try Jumpido. As the name suggests, Jumpido allows for physical movement while practicing math; its motion sensor captures students’ gestures and displays them on a computer, so learners can practice addition through virtual soccer or division by collaborating with onscreen elves. Freemium: Individual reading time is important--but it can be hard to keep 20 young minds on the pages in front of them.
