KORU: $8 million to Seattle, WA-based Koru in a Series A round led by Maveron and joined by City Light Capital, Trilogy Equity Partners, and existing investors Battery Ventures and First Round. Founded in 2013, the startup offers experiential learning programs that help college graduate develop business skills in real work settings. The company has now raised $12.6 million. Tuition runs $1,749 to $2,849 depending on the duration of the program, and Xconomy reports acceptance rates hover around 25 percent. So far 85 percent of Koru's graduates find a job within two to six months after finishing the program. Koru also partners with more than 30 companies, including LinkedIn, zulily, Amazon and Remind which may give preference to graduates (and pay Koru a fee for each hire).
