UVERSITY has been acquired by TargetX, a Conshohocken, PA-based company that bills itself as a “CRM for higher education” focused on boosting student recruitment, retention and alumni engagement. Uversity, founded in 2007 (then known as Inigral), tackled similar objectives through its Schools App and UChat tools, which according to the press release have “fostered over 3.9 million student connections.” Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Uversity had raised a total of $11.4 million, the last $1.2 million of which came in a down round. (Fun fact: Uversity is also the first for-profit company that the Gates Foundation made a direct equity investment in.)
