THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN': The Chinese curse, 'May you live in interesting times'...[is] an apt metaphor for the state of education in America." So begins the report from Seattle-based MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest, "Obstacles and Opportunities for Entrepreneurs in Education," which provides a quick digest of current converging K-12 trends such as Common Core, Big Data, and the shift to digital content. Obstacles include complexities with the ever-changing terminology (like that pesky word, "adaptive") and the long sales and business cycle, along with politics and that nagging "B" word ("bubbles!"). Kudos to Frank Catalano, who moderated a panel discussion for the MIT Enterprise Forum on these issues, for spearheading this report (and the generous shoutouts).
