THE ARMS RACE: Apple bragged about some big numbers to AllThingsD. The company has now sold over 4.5 million iPads to schools in the U.S., and iTunesU has now seen over a billion downloads--more than three times the number last shared in 2010. This follows an announcement from Google in early February that its Chromebooks had been adopted in over 2,000 schools. (How many specifically? We'll try to find out this week at SXSWedu!)
