Treehouse Raises $7M to Grow Online Coding Platform

Apr 9, 2013

TREEHOUSE ISLAND: Looks like money can grow on trees after all. Treehouse Island, Inc. today announced it closed a Series B round to the tune of $7 million, led by Kaplan Ventures, with The Social+Capital Partnership also participating. Kate Eberle Walker, VP for Corporate Investments and Strategy at Kaplan Ventures, will join the board. The Orlando, FL-based company previously raised a $600K seed round shortly after its founding in November 2011, followed by a $4.75M round in April 2012. Treehouse currently boasts over 25,000 active users on its online coding education platform, some of whom hail from flashy companies from AirBnB to Zappos. (We took a peek at it here.) TechCrunch reports that the company is about to launch a pilot program for high school students to be code-ready for engineering jobs.
