"BATCH PROCESSING": At a recent talk at Harvard Law School, writer and Berkman Center fellow Justin Reich shared concerns over the edtech hype, including the fact that he's "absolutely certain that a lot of things are taking some very old, and in some cases some very tired ideas in education and putting them in shiny new form factors." (And he's not afraid to call some of them out.) He warns that as edtech companies increasingly push a "consumer model" of education, "there are all kinds of things we lose when we stop treating students as communities of learners and treat them as individuals. We should not let those changes happen without a serious discussion of the consequences." (Hat tip to InformationWeek.)
