BUILD DON’T WATCH: “But even the cursing Minecrafters are better than pre-tween-targeted sitcoms on Disney or Nickelodeon.” The quip perfectly sums up writer and proud mama Julie Russell’s opinion on exposing her 9 year-old daughter to Minecraft before mainstream media. It’s not that she’s okay with her daughter catching lewd language via YouTube -- she’s found a couple of Minecrafters with G-rated tutorials. Instead Russell takes issue with the “stupid adult stereotypes, sarcasm, backstabbing behavior, and contempt” that have found their way into children’s programming. Perhaps those brilliant Imagineers should consider virtual expansion!
