RAMPING UP: Amplify announced its first county-wide deployment that will send 21,215 tablets to students and teachers in 24 middle schools in Guilford County Schools, NC, in time for the 2013-14 school year. The contract was finalized after a RFP process that also included submissions from Apple, Pearson/Dell and Pearson/Samsung. News & Record got a copy of district emails and documents, including the RFP scoring rubric and summary, which revealed that Amplify outscored runner-up proposals by a wide margin, 84 to 35. It also found that Amplify offered "lowest lease price of any of the companies at $199 per device."
