TABLET TALK: Diane Ravitch has often been one of the biggest skeptics on the promises of edtech. However, in a recent blog post opining on recent 1:1 device deployment debacles, she offers her take on what edtech can do to realize its potential. She foresees that "the time will come when tablets replace…textbooks," and recommends that technology "must encourage exploration and inquiry, not fidelity to a packaged program." She also warns districts that there must be planning, forethought, and teacher buy-in to make it all work.
