NOT YOUR GRANDMA'S CIO: The roles and responsibilities of school CTOs and CIOs are rapidly changing, according to District Administration. In 1990, 80% of their role was technical tasks like physically managing boxes and wires; now only 20% of their time is spent on these tasks. Instead, the majority of their responsibilities are centered on providing support and services to teachers. And where they once made tech decisions on their own and flew under the administration's radar, they are now reporting directly to the Superintendent and have a seat at the executive leadership table.
