HIGHSCHOOLEDX: edX, the nonprofit partnership between Harvard and MIT that offers free online courses from universities, now has 26 courses for high school students. The courses cover subjects ranging from “The Beauty and Joy of Computing” to a preparation course for AP French Language and Culture. Offered by universities (including UC Berkeley, Rice University and the University of Texas at Austin), many of the courses have an Advanced Placement (AP) designation, and some offer a Verified Certificate of Achievement for a fee ranging from $50-$100.
