TECHIE ADULTS: On March 9, the White House announced the TechHire initiative, a partnership with universities and community colleges designed to help middle class Americans develop the IT skills necessary for many higher wage positions. It also includes efforts to provide Americans with tech training through coding bootcamps: as part of the initiative, HackReactor plans to open a TechHire campus in Oakland, California this summer. According to a White House fact sheet, 21 communities nationwide and over 300 employer partners have announced plans to provide tech training to job applicants through TechHire. The Department of Labor will also launch a $100 million H-1B grant competition for the training and employment of low-skill Americans.
