A VENTI BACHELOR’S DEGREE: On April 6, Starbucks announced that it will pay for all four years of its employees’ tuition at Arizona State University Online. The Starbucks College Achievement Plan, introduced in June 2014, previously offered discounted tuition for the first two years, and a full ride (paid by Starbucks) for the last two.
Starbucks’ investment in its employees’ educations could total $250 million over 10 years, according to ASU--and graduates have no commitment to continue working there afterwards. ASU, which is hoping to enroll 100,000 online students in the next five years, will continue to offer a discounted tuition to the employees (and thereby to Starbucks).
