Thumbs up to Houston-based Reasoning Mind, named this year's Deloitte RightStep Innovation Prize winner. Deloitte noted that the nonprofit math company, Reasoning Mind has a "record of success validated by 10 research studies."
The prize was instituted last November by Deloitte. Some 116 organizations applied. The application involved a six-month process, three rounds of intensive screenings and more than 100 Deloitte professionals. Among the criteria for the prize: The organization's commitment to helping underserved youth, the level of technology innovation, the prospect of scaling the solution to many and how well the mission aligns with Deloitte’s education initiative.
Fruits of this award: $100K in cash (and the opportunity to use $100K-worth of Deloitte services) aimed at helping scale Reasoning Mind's impact. Reasoning Mind currently operates in Texas, West Va., and Calif.
Runners up in the Deloitte competition were: Beyond12, iMentor, Strive for College and uAspire.
