London-based Third Space Learning said it has secured $2.3 million (£1.5 million) from investors including Ananda - Social Venture Fund, Nesta and its existing angel investors. (Third Space raised £750K last year.) Third Space provides a low-cost, one-to-one tutoring service in math for at-risk primary school students in the UK by connecting them with a global network of tutors. According to this Nesta post, Third Space's social mission, namely improving students' confidence and attainment in math, was critical to its decision to invest in the operation. Third Space currently serves approximately 2,500 students in the UK.
