MAY THE CODE BE WITH YOU: Here’s something else that Code.org should teach: how to partner with big brands and borrow their intellectual property. To build buzz for the upcoming Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 7-13), the Seattle-based nonprofit has made available coding tutorials featuring characters and settings from Star Wars and Minecraft. (Code your way to help the Rebel Alliance or “mine” your dream house.) Code.org has also featured Angry Birds and Frozen (another Disney creation) for its previous “Hour of Code” exercises, a series of basic “code block” challenges that introduce learners to the fundamentals of programming.
