INCOMING! Nearpod, an interactive presentation platform, will launch virtual reality lessons Thursday, February 18th. The company plans to distribute the lessons through school- and student-owned devices instead of having schools and districts invest large amounts of capital in headsets or other expensive hardware. The devices may not be the biggest obstacle, though.
“Our biggest hurdle is to become relevant to teachers that are not fully ready to adopt technology,” Guido Kovalskys, Nearpod's CEO, told the Wall Street Journal. Current training and professional development doesn't cover other types of reality.
Nearpod isn't the first creator of VR lessons, though. Google Expeditions launched in September of 2015.
