YEWNO, an educational websearch company, has exited a two-year period in stealth mode with a $10 million Series A from Pacific Capital, according to a press release. While in stealth mode, Yewno curated its proprietary archive of 50 million pieces of content and signed partnerships with universities, publishing houses and content aggregators to do so. The company touts its search engine as a tool that orders concepts in a way that more closely resembles human inferences than other engines. Yewno is currently in private beta, but the company has hinted at an upcoming launch. It plans to use the funding to scale the business and its commercial offerings.
The company describes itself as creating "hyperknowledge," which it defines as: "Transcending knowledge management, unstructured data, search engines and more, hyperknowledge promises to transform the entire concept of online research."
