ITALKI, a marketplace for online language lessons, has announced a $3 million Series A round from Hujiang, a Chinese e-learning platform. Founded in 2007 and based in Shanghai, the company offers one-on-one online lessons from professional teachers and native speakers, taking a 15 percent commission on the price of the lesson. It plans to use the funding to expand its operations and improve the mobile experience on its platform. Italki claims to have more than 3000 teachers and tutors offering roughly 75 languages on its platform.
