OPENCLASSROOMS just got investors to open their wallets. The French startup has raised €6 million (approximately US $6.7 million) in a round from Citizen Capital, Bpifrance and Xavier Niel and Alven Capital. Founded in 2012, OpenClassrooms offers an online platform that provides courses and certification in business and programming subjects.
The company aims to equip learners with skills required in technology-related jobs, and aims to train 20 million people by 2020. Users can access a limited number of videos and courses available for free; a paid subscription ranging from €20 to €300 per month removes this limitation and offers additional services such as one-on-one live mentoring and degrees recognized by the state of France.
