APPLES TO ... A new effort to make the credential marketplace more transparent is taking shape. This week the Lumina Foundation-funded Credential Transparency Initiative introduced its Credential Registry—a tool to document and compare credentials like certificates, licenses and badges “similar to the way travel apps are used to compare flights, rental cars and hotels.”
The registry, introduced at a DC event, aims to help users understand the value of different credentials, such as what a certificate from a MOOC represents on a potential employee’s resume. CTI says it hopes the effort will be beneficial to job seekers and students, employers, credentialing organizations, the education community, the military and more.
