By 2025, the U.S. will be short 11 million certificate and degree-holders to support the economy, according to research from Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce. To drive that number down, the New Media Consortium released a report that details eight obstacles that stand in the way of students graduation—and ideas for how to overcome them. “Scaling Solutions for Higher Ed’s Biggest Challenges” is based on input from 120 leaders at higher-ed institutions and companies. Recommendations include expanding financial aid for competency-based education programs and improving professional development for faculty.
