INSIDER KNOWLEDGE? Reuters continues its sleuthing into the vulnerabilities afflicting the integrity of the SAT. The latest story claims that a Chinese company, New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc, has been able to provide its students with questions straight from SAT and TOEFL tests shortly after they have been administered. Since problems are re-used, those with this access may have an unfair advantage over other test takers. Further complicating the issue are the tangled relationships: New Oriental is a business partner of Educational Testing Service, “the New Jersey non-profit that both owns the TOEFL and provides security for the SAT.”
