ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, REAL DOLLARS: There may be a strong link between artificial intelligence adoption and revenue, according to Infosys. In a report published at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, organizations that have already or plan to deploy AI say they expect to see a 39 percent average revenue increase by 2020. In addition, 76 percent of the study’s 1,600 business leader respondents claimed AI has been ”fundamental to the success of their organization’s strategy,” a press release reads.
Yet robots are not necessarily taking over jobs: 80 percent of the surveyed companies said that while they expect to replace some roles with AI, they are also retraining and investing in existing staff to keep them on board. But not everyone is on board: the report says , “two-thirds of those surveyed have not fully considered the ethical issues related to AI,” and “90 percent say their organization’s employees face challenges or concerns with AI adoption.”
