COURAGION, a Denver, Colo.-based startup that aims to educate students on STEM careers, has received $750,000 in grant funding from the National Science Foundation through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program. The Phase II award also includes $500,000 in matching funds that the company is now eligible to work towards. According to COO Laura Farrelly, the grant money will be used to help further develop of Couragion’s platform and product, as well as to expand research around its outcomes.
Founded in 2015, Couragion previously received $150,000 for Phase I of the grant in 2016, and received an additional $30,000 in a Phase IB round. The most recent grant round brings the company's total SBIR funds to $930,000.
