THINKSTER GOES TO SCHOOL: The next investment from the Jefferson Education Accelerator (JEA), which provides financial and efficacy research support for edtech startups, goes to Thinkster Math. The company, with offices in New Jersey and India, offers a tablet-based K-8 math app. Students use their fingers or a stylus as they work through math programs, after which a tutor can retrace the steps and provide support. Thinkster claims more than 75,000 users from more than 30 countries.
Specific financing details were not disclosed, although JEA typically invests up to $2 million in its partners. Formerly called Tabtor Math, Thinkster has previously raised $4.8 million in venture capital (the last in the form of a $3.7 million Series A round in May 2016).
