MARCO MONEY POLO: MarcoPolo Learning, a New York City-based developer of mobile apps for early childhood learning, has raised $8.5 million in a Series A round led by Boat Rocker Ventures. Other investors include Horizons Ventures, Seedcamp and DST Global. Founded in 2012, MarcoPolo currently offers five apps that it claims has reached more than 5 million students across 150 countries.
Boat Rocker Ventures is a division of Boat Rocker Media, the studio company behind shows such as “Orphan Black” and “Canada’s Next Top Model.” Through the deal, the company aims to leverage Boat Rocker Media’s in-house content resources and distribution channels to expand its reach.
