BLUE CANOE LEARNING, a Seattle-based developer of a language learning tool that claims to use AI technology to help non-native English speakers, has raised $1.4 million in a seed round from Kernal Labs. Founded in 2016, Blue Canoe is working on a game that uses colors, symbols and hand motions to help users learn vowel sounds more effectively—in as little as 10 minutes a day, it boasts. The startup also landed a spot in the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence incubator program. More details from the release.
