SNAKEBITE: Pythonroom, a developer of a web-based learning management system to support coding education, has been acquired by San Francisco-based Tynker, a learn-to-code company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2014, Pythonroom claims to have helped more than 400,000 students across 35,000 schools learn programming in the Python language.
Tynker, which has raised more than $10 million in venture capital since its launch in 2012, offers a coding platform that introduces kids to coding through creating games, apps and mods. The company claims its tools have been used by more than 60 million students over time. According to the press release, the addition of Pythroom gives Tynker new content for high school-level learners.
