PREDICT THIS: Civitas Learning, a provider of predictive analytics tools to support students at higher-ed institutions, has acquired ClearScholar. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2016, ClearScholar offers a mobile app that connects students with college administrators and faculty members, in the aim of keeping learners engaged with what’s happening on campus. The Indianapolis-based startup had raised $1.25 million in January 2017. (Here’s our story about its fundraise and origins.)
According to the press release from Civitas, the addition of ClearScholar’s technology will “enable institutions to recommend resources and activities specific to student interests and unique needs, supporting their achievement of critical milestones from admission to graduation.”
To date, Civitas Learning claims it serves nearly 8 million students across over 325 colleges and universities. The Austin-based company has raised nearly $89 million in venture funding, the last of it coming from a $60 million Series D round in 2015.
