GONE FISHING: Fishtree, an Arlington, Va.-based developer of an adaptive learning platform used in K-12, higher-ed and corporate training environments, has been acquired by Follett, a distributor of curricular and educational technology products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2013, Fishtree offers tools that allow instructors to align educational materials to academic standards or competencies, and deliver these resources to students based on their needs. The company claims its tools have reached more than 500,000 across the world.
Fishtree raised $3 million in 2015 from investors that include New Markets Venture Partners, JISR Venture Partners and Recruit (a Japanese human resource company). The company was also part of the Jefferson Education Accelerator, which made an undisclosed investment in Fishtree.
According to the press announcement, Follett plans to “integrate the machine-based learning tools of Fishtree within Follett’s industry leading Destiny content and resource management platform used by more than 70,000 schools and school districts across North America.”
