LANGUAGE PREP: Preply, an online tutoring platform that aims to help people learn languages, has raised $4 million in a funding round led by Point Nine Capital.
Other investors include RTAventures VC, Diligent Capital Partners, SMRK, Mariusz Gralewski, Arthur Kosten and Przemyslaw Gacek. The company has used the money to open a second office in Berlin, and will use the rest of the funds to further develop its products and hire new employees.
According to VentureBeat, the Ukraine-based company wants young professionals to learn a language well enough that they can conduct business, more so than conversational skills. The company claims it is available in 40 languages and has 25,000 tutors and over 100,000 students from more than 160 countries.
