VITAL DEAL: Education company VitalSource has acquired Acrobatiq, an adaptive learning platform that spun out of Carnegie Mellon University’s Open Learning Initiative several years ago. Financial details for the deal were not disclosed.
Based in Raleigh, N.C., VitalSource delivers educational learning materials ranging from digital textbooks to data tools for instructors. The company claims to work with more than 1,000 education content providers and says its tools and materials are used at more than 7,000 institutions.
“We have built a powerful platform that helps students learn. But the platform needs great content,” Eric Frank, CEO of Acrobatiq, said in a press release. “Our customers want that content to come from publishers, open education resources, or to create it themselves… Being a part of VitalSource brings that possibility to life.”
