HOT TOPIC: Topica Edtech Group, a Hanoi, Vietnam-based provider of online educational offerings ranging from live English tutoring courses to full-on bachelor’s degree programs (through partnerships with existing universities), has raised $50 million in a Series D investment from Northstar Group, a Singapore private-equity firm.
Founded in 2008, Topica also operates an accelerator for early-stage startups, and claims its graduates have gone on to raise more than $20 million after the program. It also offers offers short, skills-based training program for older learners. According to DealStreetAsia, the company claims more than a million working adults have used its services. The company has more than 1,700 employees.
