CRUNCHING NUMBERS: DataCamp, a provider of online data science courses, has raised $25 million in a round led by Spectrum Equity. Existing investors Accomplice and Arthur Ventures also chipped in. The New York City-based company has raised $31.1 million to date.
The company was founded in Belgium but relocated to New York in 2015 to partake in the TechStars accelerator program. Today DataCamp offers more than 200 courses in data science and analytics subjects, taught by roughly 160 educators (some of whom make close to $150,000 a year, VentureBeat reports).
The company claims more than 3.3 million users across 180 countries, including over 1,000 business clients such as Facebook, Kaiser Permanente and Uber. DataCamp sells subscriptions that start at $25 per month for individuals, and $300 per user per year at companies.
In a blog post, the company shared that the funding will support plans to expand its curriculum, personalized recommendation and feedback system, and offerings for business clients.
