CLASS ACT: ACT, the nonprofit that oversees the standardized college-readiness exam by the same name, has acquired the American College Application Campaign (ACAC) from the American Council on Education, a major nonprofit higher education association and coordinating body for U.S. colleges and universities. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ACAC aims to get more first-generation and low-income students into a college degree or other credential program by helping high school students who may not otherwise got to college navigate the application process. ACAC claims it worked with more than 500,000 students in 2017, who submitted a total of more than 800,000 college applications.
A branch of ACT focused on closing equity and achievement gaps will manage ACAC, according to a press announcement.
