HEY YA: HeyTutor, a company that provides an online tutoring marketplace, has raised $1 million in a seed round from ScOP Venture Capital. Founded in 2014, the Los Angeles-based startup connects students and tutors for either online or live sessions in more than 100 U.S. cities, covering over 250 subjects. More details in the press release.
This deal marks the latest in deal in the online tutoring industry, which over the years has attracted plenty of upstart companies and investment capital. Just last month, Varsity Tutors, which raised $50 million in 2018, acquired a Los Angeles college and test-prep company. Last July, a language-focused tutoring platform, Preply, raised $4 million.
