Student Financial Aid Startup Mos Raises $4 Million in Seed Funding

MOS DEF: Mos, a San Francisco-based platform for student financial aid applications, has closed a $4 million seed round from investors that include Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, his startup studio Expa, Kleiner Perkins Chairman John Doerr, Base Ventures and Sweet Capital.

Founded in 2017, Mos claims that for a $149 fee it can connect students to over 500 federal and state-based aid programs, according to TechCrunch. The company also has financial advisers who review cases and negotiate for higher financial aid payments for students. The company expects a full launch in the summer.

Doerr’s education investments over the years include Remind, Duolingo, Student.com. AltSchool, MissionU and DreamBox.
