Primer, a San Francisco-based developer of online tools to support homeschooling parents and children, has raised $3.7 million in a seed round led by Keith Rabois, a partner at Founders Fund. More than two dozen other individuals also invested, according to the fundraising announcement published by the company.
Founded in 2019, Primer so far provides a library of curated online materials that are suitable for homeschooling (such as Khan Academy). There is also a resource to help parents make sure they are in compliance with homeschooling requirements in their state.
The company says it will be officially launching its primary offering later this year: “a series of interest-based communities designed for students” where kids can collaborate on projects in specific subjects with their peers and subject-matter experts. It will send invitations to join the platform in August 2020.
